DocArmor Privacy Policy

Katafract LLC — Last updated March 2026 — All app policies →

DocArmor stores your most sensitive documents — IDs, insurance cards, passports — encrypted with AES-256 and locked behind Face ID or Touch ID. Nothing is ever uploaded, synced to iCloud, or transmitted anywhere. Your documents exist only on your device.

What Data Does DocArmor Collect?

None. DocArmor does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data whatsoever.

Data Type Collected?
Document images (IDs, cards, etc.) Never
Document text or OCR content Never
Biometric data (Face ID / Touch ID) Never
Encryption keys Never
Device identifiers (IDFA, etc.) Never
Usage analytics Never
Crash logs Never
Account or login information Never

Document Storage and Encryption

All documents you add to DocArmor are encrypted using AES-256 via Apple's CryptoKit framework before being written to the app's private local storage container. The encryption key is generated on your device, stored in the iOS Keychain with the highest available protection class, and never leaves your device.

Documents are stored in the app's sandboxed private directory and are not accessible to any other app or to the operating system without authentication.

Face ID and Touch ID

DocArmor uses Apple's Local Authentication framework (LAContext) to require biometric verification before granting access to your documents. Your biometric data — fingerprints, face geometry — is never accessed or read by DocArmor. The framework returns only a pass/fail result. Biometric data never leaves the device's Secure Enclave.

Document Scanner

The built-in document scanner uses Apple's VisionKit framework (VNDocumentCameraViewController) and processes the camera feed entirely on-device. Scanned document images are passed directly to the encryption pipeline — they are never written to your photo library, never cached to disk in unencrypted form, and never transmitted anywhere.

iCloud and Sync

DocArmor explicitly disables iCloud sync for all document data. Your encrypted vault does not appear in iCloud Drive, iCloud Backup, or any Apple cloud service. Documents exist only in local device storage. If you delete the app, your documents are permanently deleted. We recommend exporting documents you need before uninstalling.

Photo Library Access

If you choose to import an existing photo from your library into DocArmor, the app requests photo library read access for that operation only. The imported image is immediately encrypted and stored in the local vault. DocArmor does not scan, index, or retain access to your broader photo library.

In-App Purchases

DocArmor is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information, Apple ID, or any billing details. Purchase verification is handled on-device by Apple's StoreKit framework.

Third-Party Services

DocArmor does not integrate with any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, social media SDKs, cloud storage providers, or data brokers. There are no third-party frameworks in the app that collect or transmit data.

Children's Privacy

DocArmor does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages.

Data Retention

All document data is stored locally on your device. We retain nothing on our end because nothing is ever sent to us. Uninstalling the app permanently and irrecoverably deletes all stored documents — there is no server-side copy to restore from.
