DocArmor — Support
DocArmor Support
Getting Started
Tap the “+” button on the main screen and choose “Scan Document” to use the built-in camera scanner, or “Import from Photos” to use an existing image from your library. The document is encrypted immediately after capture and stored in your local vault.
Open DocArmor. You will be prompted for Face ID or Touch ID authentication. Once authenticated, your full document vault is accessible for the current session. The vault locks automatically when you leave the app.
All documents are encrypted with AES-256 using Apple’s CryptoKit framework. The encryption key is stored in the iOS Keychain with the highest available protection class, bound to your device and your biometric or passcode. The key never leaves your device.
Yes. Tap “New Folder” from the main screen to create categories (e.g., Medical, Travel, Finance). Documents can be moved between folders at any time. All folders are encrypted with the same vault key.
Security & Privacy
No. DocArmor explicitly disables iCloud sync for all vault data. Your documents do not appear in iCloud Drive, iCloud Backup, or any Apple cloud service. They exist only in local device storage.
All documents in your vault will be permanently deleted. Because there is no cloud backup, uninstalling the app removes your data with no way to recover it. Export any documents you need before uninstalling by using the share button on each document to send it to Files, AirDrop, or another app.
No. DocArmor collects zero data. Your documents, encryption keys, and biometric authentication results never leave your device. There are no analytics SDKs, no network calls of any kind. See the full DocArmor Privacy Policy for details.
No. DocArmor stores your documents as encrypted blobs. While the scanner may use on-device OCR for display purposes, the resulting text is stored encrypted alongside the image and is never transmitted anywhere. Katafract has no server-side access to any of your documents.
Troubleshooting
If Face ID fails, DocArmor falls back to your device passcode. If neither works, ensure Face ID is set up in iOS Settings › Face ID & Passcode and that DocArmor is listed under “Other Apps.” Re-enrolling Face ID in iOS Settings can resolve persistent failures.
Place the document on a flat, high-contrast background (a dark table works well for white documents). Ensure the area is well-lit and hold the camera steady. You can also tap the shutter button to capture manually and then adjust the crop handles before confirming.
This means the vault is locked, which is expected behavior. Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to unlock it. If you’ve recently restarted your phone, the first unlock after a restart always requires your passcode rather than biometrics — this is an iOS security requirement.
In-App Purchase
No. DocArmor is $3.99 one-time — the full app, no tiers or upgrades required. Pay once and own it forever — no recurring charges.
Open DocArmor, tap Settings, and tap “Restore Purchases.” As long as you’re signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase, it will be restored at no charge. Note: restoring the purchase does not restore your documents, which are stored locally and not backed up.
