DocArmor Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using DocArmor ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the App. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Katafract LLC ("Katafract", "we", "us").

2. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted at https://katafract.com/terms/docarmor with a revised date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

3. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Katafract grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use DocArmor on Apple devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.

DocArmor is a full-access app licensed upon completion of the one-time purchase described in Section 5. There is no free tier.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or its underlying software;
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except to the extent permitted by applicable law;
• Use the App to store, process, or transmit documents in violation of applicable law;
• Attempt to circumvent or defeat the App's encryption or authentication mechanisms;
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App.

5. In-App Purchases

DocArmor Pro is available as a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase of $3.99 USD (or equivalent local currency), processed by Apple through the App Store.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the time of purchase confirmation.
• DocArmor Pro is a permanent license tied to your Apple ID. You may restore it at any time on any device signed in to the same Apple ID using the "Restore Purchases" option in the App.
• Katafract does not receive, store, or have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details. All payment processing is handled solely by Apple.
• Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. Katafract has no ability to issue or deny refunds.

6. Data Storage and Encryption

DocArmor encrypts all stored documents using AES-256 via Apple's CryptoKit framework. Your encryption key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device and never leaves your device.

DocArmor explicitly disables iCloud sync. Your documents are not backed up to iCloud, iCloud Drive, or any cloud service. Documents exist only in the App's local storage container on your device.

Standard iOS device backups (iCloud Backup or local Finder/iTunes backups) may include the App's encrypted container as part of a full device backup, subject to Apple's backup policies.

7. Data Loss Warning

Uninstalling DocArmor permanently and irrecoverably deletes all documents stored in the App. Because there is no cloud backup, no server-side copy, and no Katafract account, there is no way for us or for you to recover deleted documents after the App is removed.

You are solely responsible for exporting or otherwise preserving any documents you need before uninstalling the App. Katafract is not liable for any data loss resulting from uninstalling the App, device failure, device reset, or any other cause.

8. Face ID and Touch ID

DocArmor uses Apple's Local Authentication framework to require biometric verification before granting access to your documents. The App receives only a pass/fail result from the framework; it never accesses, reads, or stores your biometric data. Biometric data remains in your device's Secure Enclave at all times.

If biometric authentication is unavailable or fails repeatedly, iOS may offer a device passcode fallback. Katafract has no control over or visibility into this fallback process.

9. Document Scanner

The built-in document scanner uses Apple's VisionKit framework and processes the camera feed entirely on-device. Scanned images are passed directly to the App's encryption pipeline and are not written to your photo library or cached to disk in unencrypted form.

10. Photo Library Access

When you choose to import a photo from your library into DocArmor, the App requests photo library read access for that specific operation. The imported image is immediately encrypted and stored in the local vault. DocArmor does not index, retain persistent access to, or upload your photo library.

11. Intellectual Property

DocArmor, the Katafract name, and all associated logos, designs, and software are owned by Katafract LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the App. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Documents you store in the App remain your property. Katafract claims no rights to the content of documents stored in DocArmor.

12. No Warranty

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, KATAFRACT DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ENCRYPTED DATA WILL BE RECOVERABLE UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL KATAFRACT LLC BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DOCUMENTS, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF DOCARMOR, EVEN IF KATAFRACT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

SPECIFICALLY, KATAFRACT IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DOCUMENTS LOST AS A RESULT OF UNINSTALLING THE APP, DEVICE FAILURE, DEVICE RESET, KEYCHAIN LOSS, OR ANY OTHER CAUSE. You acknowledge that local-only storage carries inherent risks and that you are responsible for maintaining any necessary backups of critical documents through other means.

IN ALL CASES, KATAFRACT'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR DOCARMOR PRO.

14. Third-Party Services

DocArmor is distributed through the Apple App Store and uses Apple's StoreKit framework for purchase processing and Apple's frameworks (CryptoKit, LAContext, VisionKit) for core functionality. Your use of Apple's services is governed by Apple's Terms of Service. Katafract is not responsible for Apple's services, policies, or availability.

15. Termination

This license is effective until terminated. It terminates automatically if you breach any provision of these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and delete all copies from your devices. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 11, 12, 13, and 16) will survive.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Katafract LLC's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in that location.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the DocArmor Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Katafract with respect to DocArmor and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
